So by now you have probably read all the great reviews of our RR Racing R3 coilovers. Our new R3 Ultimate 2-way coilovers have all the great features of the R3 coilovers with the addition of independent compression and rebound adjustment. Normally, in a single adjustable shock both compression and rebound are adjusted simultaneously. The 2-way coilovers give much greater adjustability for both the track and the street. For example, lets say your car feels too harsh over bumps. In a conventional single adjustable coilover, going to soft on the shock setting may make the car feel “bouncy,” but in a 2 way coilover you can soften the compression, while maintaining adequate rebound damping to keep from getting the bouncy feeling. There are many performance reasons to have 2 way adjustability. For example, for drag racing, you want the rear of the car to “squat” in order to transfer weight to the rear tires for maximum traction. So the best way to adjust these coilovers is to reduce front rebound, reduce rear compression, and maximize rear rebound. This will result in maximum squat off the line and best traction. Similarly for road racing, adjusting compression and rebound independently allows for control over weight transfer and understeer/oversteer characteristics.
- Ultra Digressive shock piston technology (see attached chart). Digressive piston valving allows us to achieve relatively stiff shock settings at low shock speeds, and relatively soft settings at high shock speeds. This means that the car will feel extremely responsive during cornering, but compliant when hitting bumps. Also, changes in shock settings will mainly affect the cornering response of the car rather than the harshness when hitting bumps.
- Swift springs available in wide range of CUSTOM spring rates tailored to how YOU drive your car, we can do anything from street comfort to track setups.
- Lighter weight compared to R2 coilovers, approximately 2-3lbs lighter per shock, depending on application.
- Dual adjustable shock dampening with a wide range of adjustments for meaningful changes in the ride and handling characteristics of your Lexus.
- Every coilover leaving our shop is pre-set for optimal lowered ride height, only minor adjustments are necessary upon installationWe also offer one-on-one consulation at no additional cost – If you have any doubts on what spring options to order, please call us prior to placing your order to talk to one of our suspension experts.
We highly recommend to install our Ultimate Steering Response Product (USRS) in conjunction with this suspension to improve your steering response (offered as an option to this product)
