RR Racing is proud to make history by being able to offer an OBD device tune for Lexus IS-F engine control unit (ECU) based on our famous ECU upgrade product!

The Lexus IS-F ECU is a very complex and sophisticated engine management system. RR Racing has been developing this upgrade tune for many months, intimately understanding IS-F ECU's parameters and structures, testing various changes to optimize power and torque effectively while retaining stock fuel efficiency, knock control sensitivity, and other built in safety features. During the development and testing period, we have logged many track hours and over 2,000 miles of road testing and road-dyno logging with many more hours spent on a sophisticated Dynojet dyno at a top-notch climate controlled facility. Then we tested various OBD units, and only when we were convinced that the device is reliable, we released it as a product.

So as you can see this was not a weekend project for us, where we slapped on IS-F on the dyno, played around a bit for a day or weekend, and and now we are selling a tune. We had done most of our development on the road, under real world conditions, doing hundreds of runs, datalogs, and hundreds of miles of testing between re-maps in order to determine how the ECU reacts to changes and adjust learning parameters. We have developed a full understanding of the following ECU functions/parameters, including but not limited to:

  • Direct Injection / Port Injection fuel mapping
  • Ignition control (ISF has base ignition maps, cam timing dependent ignition maps, knock correction maps)
  • Intake and Exhaust variable cam maps
  • Torque to throttle mapping (allows us to enhance throttle response)
  • Optional rev limit increases -- 7200 (7400 RPM not recommended without our TCU tune)
  • CEL parameters (e.g., disabling of O2 sensor warning light)

Our on road impressions are that the IS-F pulls much more smoothly and linearly, with excellent midrange and top-end improvement. This was evidenced in our ignition curve datalogs shown below where a combination of ignition and cam timing adjustments resulted in a much more linear and aggressive ignition curve, free of any detonation or large ignition corrections:



After extensive road dyno and datalogs, we headed over to top-notch climate controlled Dynojet testing facility and conducted many hours of dyno tests.

We are proud to make history once again by introducing the first intake system (larger cold air box, air filter, and MAF body) to be proven to make power on the IS-F!

Throughout our rigorous testing program, we discovered that the OEM airbox intake is adequate up to about 410 whp, but beyond that level, it becomes restrictive. Tuned header equipped cars seemed to max out at around 410-415 whp. So it turns out that once you add headers and improve exhaust flow, the intake becomes restrictive! Our ability to tune the IS-F’s ECU has allowed us to develop the ultimate intake system by recalibrating the airflow curve to allow the use of a much larger MAF (mass airflow) housing.

RR-Racing Tuned Intake Features:

  • Additional power gains of 10 to 15 whp over an ISF equipped with our ECU upgrade, headers and high flow exhaust!
  • Power gains of 60 to 80 whp and 50 to 60 wtrq compared to stock setup as part of our Performance Upgrade Package!
  • The MAF tube diameter is significantly increased from 80mm to 87mm. Upgrading the MAF housing is only possible through extensive recalibration of the ECU.
  • To take advantage of the added flow of the 87mm MAF housing, we utilize a large genuine K&N cone filter with 7” composite velocity stack.
  • True “cold air” design is fully heat shielded and intake box coated with genuine DEI Reflect-a-gold coating.
  • Genuine carbon fiber lid is easy to open in order to clean and inspect the filter element.
  • RR-Racing Tuned intake is compatible with most aftermarket intake elbows (but we recommend the shown RR Racing Titanium Intake elbow offered as an option!).
  • RR-Racing tuned intake requires a special ECU calibration. RR Racing ECU Upgrade Tune is included with this product.

As you can see from the dyno results below, the 350 continues to pull all the way to the revised 7000 rpm rev limit (7200 Dyno is not available at this time). This results in significantly more "area under the curve" and better acceleration times.

We estimate between 10 to 15 whp and wtq gains with this tune.

We are excited to announce that after six months of testing, five track days, desert testing, and 9000+ miles of punishment and tuning, we are finally ready to release our IS-F Supercharger kit! Our goal for this kit was to maintain stock drivability and reliability, while creating smooth, seamless, and unrelenting supercar levels of power.

RR625 Kit Specifications:

  • Power: For the base "RR625" kit, our customers can expect to make about 625hp, or 510-530whp (wheel horsepower on a Dynojet dyno, SAE correction) at approximately 7psi peak boost pressure, 93 pump gas, equipped with standard PPE headers and a standard 2.5” dual exhaust. Please also refer to the Dyno chart posted in the photo gallery for this product.
  • Tuned ECU: We have logged countless development hours perfecting our ECU tune for the ISF for ultimate reliability and drivability. No piggybacks or other BS! We have extensively developed the mapping of the stock ECU, modifying literally hundreds of maps and adding additional functionality to the fueling system that allows us to support up to 530whp without fuel system modifications.
  • Supercharger: Rotrex Supercharger, c38-91 (largest Rotrex SC). Rotrex SC's are extremely efficient and quiet due to their planetary drive system which spins up to 90,000 rpm, much like a turbocharger.
  • Dry Sump SC oiling system with Oil Cooler: Our system comes with an autonomous dry sump oiling system and oil cooler, so our system does not require plumbing oil lines to the engine, or adding any additional heat input to the engine’s cooling system.
  • Dedicated Drive System: Rather than using the accessory belt to drive the SC, we designed a dedicated drive system that allows us to achieve the necessary belt tension for a reliable SC drive, without overstressing the alternator, water pump, and AC bearings.
  • Custom Harmonic Crank Damper: There are some overpriced Japanese SC's on the market for the ISF/RCF that eliminate the factory harmonic damper crank pulley and replace it with a simple machined aluminum pulley. We find this simply unacceptable! Working in conjunction with ATI Performance, we developed a custom tuned harmonic damper than drives the SC belt. The ATI damper has been specially developed to dampen the harmonics of the 2UR-GSE engine at high horsepower levels for the ultimate in engine reliability.
  • Billet Tensioner System: Most SC kits on the market use OEM belt tensioners, but we took that a step further by developing a billet belt tensioner that is both more reliable and is able to apply significantly higher belt tension than conventional off the shelf tensioners. For added reliability we use Gates Racing Kevlar drive belts and our own double bearing billet idler pulleys.
  • Dual "Big Bubba" billet blow off Valves: We use not one, but TWO Turbosmart "Big Bubba" 2" blow off valves. Adequate venting is essential for SC responsiveness, reliability, and drivability.
  • Custom Air/Air Intercooler: We use a large 4.5"x12"x10" intercooler core. These intercoolers are extremely high quality and are manufactured in the USA by Bell Intercoolers.
  • Genuine Carbon Fiber Intake Tubing: All visible intake tubing is made from genuine twill weave carbon fiber for an amazing look and function!

Please consider the following:
  • This kit may require a front grill modification, if your car is equipped with our oil cooler or transmission cooler. We recommend both coolers, if you track your ISF. We offer an ABS honeycomb mesh to retrofit into the ISF stock grill (please see ISF Grill Mesh option). It comes with a F Logo.
  • We recommend to buy a boost gage. We offer a complete boost gage kit (also see our Gauges category) as an option with this product.
  • We also recommend to buy our Air/Oil Separator (AOS) -- although not required for the supercharger. Please let us know if you don't have an AOS.
  • The passenger side fog light either has to be removed or the back of it needs to be trimmed to fit the air intake lines. Soon we will offer an option to buy a specially modified fog light.
  • During installation the bumper rail will have to be removed to fit the intercooler. It is possible to preserve portion of the rail on both sides with an opening for the intercooler.

The Lexus RC F ECU is a very complex and sophisticated engine management system. RR Racing has been developing this upgrade tune with weeks of testing, intimately understanding RC F ECU's parameters and structures, testing various changes to optimize power and torque effectively while retaining stock fuel efficiency, knock control sensitivity, and other built in safety features. RR Racing Lexus IS-F Performance Upgrade Package RR Racing Performance Upgrade Package for Lexus IS-F

We are proud to introduce the ultimate normally aspirated performance package for Lexus IS-F! This package includes our new Tuned Intake System, our PPE Header, all combined with our famous ECU upgrade tune using an OBD device. This represents an increase of 60 to 80 wheel hp and 50 to 60 in wheel torque over stock (with a high flow exhaust)!

RR Racing Tuned Intake System
Throughout our rigorous testing program, we discovered that the OEM airbox intake is adequate up to about 410 whp, but beyond that level, it becomes restrictive. Tuned header equipped cars seemed to max out at around 410-415 whp. So it turns out that once you add headers and improve exhaust flow, the intake becomes restrictive! Our ability to tune the IS-F’s ECU has allowed us to develop the ultimate intake system by recalibrating the airflow curve to allow the use of a much larger MAF (mass airflow) housing.

RR-Racing Tuned Intake Features:
  • Additional power gains of 10 to 15 whp over an ISF equipped with our ECU upgrade, headers, and a high flow exhaust!
  • The MAF tube diameter is significantly increased from 80mm to 87mm. Upgrading the MAF housing is only possible through extensive recalibration of the ECU.
  • To take advantage of the added flow of the 87mm MAF housing, we utilize a large genuine K&N cone filter with 7” composite velocity stack.
  • True “cold air” design is fully heat shielded and intake box coated with genuine DEI Reflect-a-gold coating.
  • Genuine carbon fiber lid is easy to open in order to clean and inspect the filter element.
  • RR-Racing Tuned intake is compatible with most aftermarket intake elbows (but we recommend the shown RR Racing Titanium Intake elbow offered as an option!).
  • RR-Racing tuned intake requires a special ECU calibration. RR Racing ECU Upgrade Tune is included with this product.

RR Racing PPE Headers
RR Racing has been evaluating headers for Lexus IS-F for some time now. When finally choosing the headers to complement our ECU upgrade and supercharger for Lexus IS-F, we selected the best headers available on the market. The PPE ISF Headers make a significant increase in flow compared to the stock manifolds. Tube lengths and diameters are increased coming together into a ported 4-1 parallel merge collector. Completely TIG welded construction with thick 16 gauge tubing for long lasting power gains.

According to our estimates PPE headers can make between 6-12 additional wheel horsepower compared to OEM manifolds with removed catalysts. If you buy headers with the tune package, then you can expect total power gains (including an exhaust) of 60-70hp over stock! Please refer to our ECU upgrade tune product for recent estimates.

The headers include new Lexus 60mm outlet gaskets and a dipstick relocation bracket. A modified factory dipstick tube is supplied. If you do not chose the ECU upgrade option package, then we will provide the RR Racing O2 simulator at no additional charge.

Please note that the headers do not come with manifold gaskets. For older cars replacing manifold gaskets may be necessary. We offer these as one of the options with this product.

This was evidenced in our ignition curve datalogs shown below where a combination of ignition and cam timing adjustments resulted in a much more linear and aggressive ignition curve, free of any detonation or large ignition corrections.

After extensive road dyno and datalogs, we headed over to top-notch climate controlled Dynojet testing facility and conducted many hours of dyno tests.

This tune is for the following models with 2GR-FSE 3.5L v6 engine: IS350 2014 and newer (3rd generation), IS300, RC300/350, and GS350 2014 and newer (3rd generation) models

RR Racing is proud to release another tune for the Lexus IS/GS platform. The Lexus 300/350 ECU is a very complex and sophisticated engine management system. As always, we have worked very hard over a course of many months on developing this tune using our IS350 F Sport shop car as well as our customers' cars. We developed both on the dyno AND on the road. We have thoroughly tested various changes in order to optimize power and torque effectively while retaining stock fuel efficiency, knock control sensitivity, and other built in safety features.

We especially excited to report the results of our IS300 tune. Now IS/RC300 owners can have all the power of an IS/RC350 at a fraction of the cost, by simply recalibrating the ECU!

So as you can see this was not a weekend project for us, where we slapped a Lexus on the dyno, played around a bit for a day or weekend, and and now we are selling a tune. We had done most of our development on the road, under real world conditions, doing hundreds of runs, datalogs, and hundreds of miles of testing between re-maps in order to determine how the ECU reacts to changes and adjust learning parameters. In addition we use our sophisticated in-house AWD DynoJet 424x LINX to fine tune our calibrations. Our ECU tune enhances the following ECU functions/parameters, including but not limited to:

  • Direct Injection / Port Injection fuel mapping
  • Ignition control (300/350 has base ignition maps, cam timing dependent ignition maps, knock correction maps)
  • Variable cam maps
  • Torque to throttle mapping (allows us to enhance throttle response)
  • Optional rev limit increase to 7200 RPM (helps the power curve)
  • We raised the shift points to higher rev limits in Sport and Sport+ modes (rev limit can only be reached in manual shifting with traction control off)
  • Optional speed limit elimination
  • CEL parameters

Our on road impressions are that the 300/350 pulls much more smoothly and linearly, with excellent midrange and top-end improvement. One of the most effective changes to the 300/350 is increasing the rev limit to 7200rpm (we can further increase engine rev limit to 7400rpm upon request, but we feel that it may impact long term reliability). As you can see from the dyno results below, the 2GR-FSE v6 continues to pull all the way to the revised 7200 rpm rev limit. This results in significantly more "area under the curve" and better acceleration times.

We estimate consistent gains of 10 whp gains with this tune over a stock car, and 15-26 whp when equipped with a full cat-back exhaust. With tune, exhaust, and headers the gain is 38 to 48 whp (65 to 75 whp for 300)!

All of our extensive dyno testing is conducted in our testing and development facility on a top-notch brand new Dynojet 424x all wheel drive Dyno equipment.

Our tune results are summarized in the following table with supporting dyno graphs below. Please note that you will experience more consistent gains below with our Carbon Intake System as well as a better throttle response.
